The series explores the story of the Greek goddess Demeter, mother of Kore, the young girl abducted by the god Hades. Kore is transported into the Underworld – the dwelling place of the Dead. Demeter journeys throughout the land in search of her daughter, who is finally discovered in her new role as ‘Persephone’, wife of Hades and ‘Queen of the Underworld’. Having partaken of pomegranate seeds (the Food of the Dead), Persephone from now on will divide the months of the year in two, moving between Earth and the Underworld.
